Walmart Layoff

It looks like Walmart is laying off lots of people. This has not yet hit the news as I type these words but I heard it straight from a reliable source. A close friend of many years who works at a Walmart in NH told me tonight that there was a big meeting and the news was not good. He was told that althought his job was safe, there were 35 people that were getting layed off tonight. On top of that he was told that the layoffs were not for just that store either. As it stands Walmart is due to layoff people from many stores.

There was also talk about closing 50 stores in the near future. Why all the shake up?  Well this isn’t too much of a shock for me.  I had in fact speculated this exact scenario about 4 weeks before the election. I figured with Obama winning the election and the liberals taking over completely, Walmart would see the Union coming from a mile away. I think they are scared of unions starting to crop up. I feel they are sending a strong message that if you organize a union at walmart you are going to cost a lot of people their jobs.

My good old friend had the unpleasant task of informing certain employees, one by one, that they were no longer needed. He told me some of the woman were crying and mentioned being up shits creek for christmas.  We’ll see if the walmart layoff makes the news, I am assuming it will.
